About FarmAtlas and frequently asked questions

FarmAtlas is an independent, commission-free European farm map: food-producing and feed-producing mini, small and medium-sized farms on one map, in 27 EU countries and five languages. It is run by MicroBiome Bank and Cservölgy Major.

Where does the data come from?

The initial dataset comes from three sources, and every record shows which one: (1) OpenStreetMap — public, community map data (ODbL licence); these records are unverified until the farm claims its profile. (2) Gutes vom Bauernhof — public profiles of farms certified by the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, with a link back. (3) Manually verified Hungarian farms based on their own websites. The fourth, growing layer is the farms' own submitted profiles. Wrong or outdated data can be reported to info@farmatlas.eu, or the farm can claim its profile and correct it directly.

What is FarmAtlas?
An interactive map of farms that sell directly, across 27 European countries. It shows what a farm produces, on how much land, with which certification, and what you can apply for: pre-orders, adoption, box schemes, volunteer or professional programmes.
Is FarmAtlas free?
Yes, for both buyers and farms. No commission, no subscription, no advertising. Payment and collection happen directly between buyer and farmer; FarmAtlas only connects them.
How does my farm get on the map?
On the home page form choose “Join as a food producer”, enter the farm's name, country, town and type. You receive an edit link by e-mail, valid for 30 days, where you fill in the full profile. After submission the farm appears immediately, marked “Under review”.
What do “Under review” and “Approved profile” mean?
“Under review”: the farm submitted its own data but we have not checked it yet. “Approved profile”: the data has been checked and approved. A yellow label means manually verified; a brownish one means a record from a public source that has not been claimed yet.
My farm is already on the map — how do I claim it?
Open the farm's page and click the button in the “Is this your farm?” block. If your e-mail matches the stored address or the website domain, you get an edit link at once; otherwise we verify by SMS code or a short manual check.
How do I apply to a farm?
On the farm's page or in the map bubble choose what you are applying for (pre-order, adoption, box scheme, volunteer programme) and send the form. The farmer receives the request by e-mail; you agree the details, price and collection with them.
How is this different from a web shop or CrowdFarming?
FarmAtlas does not trade and takes no commission: it is a map and a contact channel. Marketplaces (CrowdFarming, Marktschwärmer) deduct 18–22 % commission and provide their own logistics; on FarmAtlas the farmer decides how to sell and keeps the full price.
Can I register as a feed producer?
Yes. At registration you can choose the feed-producer role, on its own or alongside food production. The profile lets you enter feed type, quantity, annual capacity, availability period, collection and delivery terms, and an indicative price if you make it public.
Who runs FarmAtlas?
MicroBiome Bank and Cservölgy Major, a 240-hectare antibiotic- and anthelmintic-free farm in northern Hungary. The project is independent: not tied to any chamber, label or retail chain. Contact: info@farmatlas.eu.
I found wrong data — what should I do?
Write to info@farmatlas.eu with the farm's name and the error, or if it is your own farm, claim the profile and correct it yourself. Records from public sources can be removed on request.
