AGDW is the national umbrella association of owners of private, municipal and corporate forests in Germany, founded in 1948. Its members are 13 state forest owners' associations, through which it represents around 2 million forest owners towards the Bundestag, ministries and the EU. At European level it works as a member of CEPF (the Confederation of European Forest Owners). It serves forest owners, but indirectly: a farmer connects to it through the state association.
According to the statutes, only forest owners' associations organised at least at state level can be members of AGDW; individual forest owners cannot join. As a forest owner you can join your state's forest owners' association (Waldbesitzerverband, e.g. Bayerischer Waldbesitzerverband, Forstkammer Baden-Württemberg) — the list is on the AGDW website.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask directly. AGDW fees are paid by the member associations (the fee rules are set by the Hauptausschuss); as an individual forest owner you pay the fee of your state association.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
