Farmers' union · Germany · national
Voluntary
An umbrella association of family farms in eastern Germany, based in Quedlinburg (Saxony-Anhalt). It has five regional member associations (Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Thuringia, Brandenburg, Landvolk Oberlausitz) and one supporting member. Its main goals are reliable CAP rules, a stronger position for farmers in the supply chain, regulation of land sales against investor buy-ups and help with farm succession. It describes itself as “Christian, conservative, rooted in the homeland”.
Voluntary. Only professional (farmers') associations can be full members; private persons and associations can join as supporting members. As a farmer you join the regional member association for your area (e.g. Bauernbund Sachsen-Anhalt) — farms from a few hectares up to large arable businesses are welcome. Applications go to the office in Quedlinburg.
