Voluntary
Germany's largest rural youth organisation, with about 100,000 members organised in 18 regional associations and many local groups. It is also the largest German body representing young farmers and young winegrowers, working on youth, education, agricultural and wine policy. Every two years it runs the national skills competition for the green professions (Berufswettbewerb) and it is present at the Grüne Woche fair in Berlin. It is party-politically neutral and non-denominational.
Voluntary. You cannot join the BDL directly: you become a member of a regional association (e.g. Bayerische Jungbauernschaft, Hessische Landjugend) and its local groups. Age limits and conditions are set by the regional association.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — please ask directly.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
