One of Germany's oldest agricultural associations, founded in 1885 by Max Eyth; based in Frankfurt am Main, with more than 30,000 members. An independent expert network for agriculture and the food industry: it tests machinery, farm inputs and food, publishes technical guidance (Merkblätter) and runs major trade fairs (AGRITECHNICA, EuroTier, DLG-Feldtage). It is for farmers, agricultural professionals and young people looking for knowledge and contacts.
Membership is voluntary. Anyone who farms or works in agriculture or agribusiness can join; companies and organisations can join too (Corporate membership). Pupils, apprentices, students and people up to 25 get a reduced membership and a one-year free Starter membership; the young people's network is Junge DLG.
Annual fee 2026: Classic €90; reduced (pupils, apprentices, students or up to 25) €36; Starter free for one year (only once); Corporate (companies, organisations) €285. In the first year the fee is charged pro rata from the month of joining; the invoice is sent once a year.
