The national interest group of market-oriented, specialised pig farmers in Germany, a registered association (e.V.) based in Damme (Lower Saxony). It has about 9,000 members; its board and advisory council are made up of sow and finishing-pig farmers. It works on markets, politics and economic services, and through its subsidiaries offers members livestock trading, an online pig exchange, energy (LPG, natural gas, electricity) and insurance services. It is for pig farmers.
Membership is voluntary. All pig farmers, companies in the pork value chain and other interested people can join. Pig farmers under 30 have a separate reduced membership (Junge ISN).
Annual fee according to the 2024 fee table, based on farm size: up to 500 finishing places / 100 sows / 50 sows in a closed system €80; 501–2,000 finishing places / 101–300 sows / 51–150 sows in a closed system €120; 2,001–3,000 finishing places / 301–500 sows / 151–250 sows in a closed system €150; above that €200. Junge ISN (up to 30) €20, former pig farmers €50, supporting members €60; value-chain companies €150/250/500.
