Who are they?

About

The national association of Merino sheep breeders, based in Madrid. It keeps the herd book of pure-breed Merino, runs performance recording and – with public support – a breeding programme, and holds official auctions recognised by the ministry. It promotes the breed in three directions: meat, wool and milk; it also looks after the black and the Montes Universales varieties.

Voluntary. Farmers keeping Merino sheep can join; applications go through the “Hazte socio” (Become a member) button on the website or the contact form. The website gives no detailed admission criteria.
