The national association of pure-breed Iberian pig (cerdo ibérico) breeders, founded in 1985 in Zafra (Badajoz). It keeps the breed's herd book and runs the official breeding and conservation programmes. By its own account its more than 1,300 members operate about 5,500 Iberian pig farms; besides Zafra it has offices in Pozoblanco and Salamanca.
Voluntary. All farmers and companies in the Iberian pig sector can apply; member types are breeder (ganadero), processor (industrial), technician (técnico) and fattener (cebadero). To join, fill in the application form downloadable from the website (tax number, address, bank details for direct debit).
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — please ask directly.
