The national association of breeders of Asturiana de los Valles beef cattle, founded in 1981 and based in Llanera (Asturias). Recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture, it keeps the breed's herd book and runs the breeding programme. It organises auctions, shows and competitions, offers training and advice to members and sells semen and embryos through its company ASTURGEN.
Voluntary. Farmers keeping Asturiana de los Valles cattle can join using the application form on the website. To enter a herd in the herd book, it must have at least 4 breeding females registered or eligible for registration in one of the official registers.
Fees for 2025, approved by the extraordinary general meeting of 15 December 2024: €85 per farm (fixed) plus €4.80 for each cow over 2 years old (this also covers tagging and transfers between farms). Non-members pay for services, e.g. type classification or birth notification €100, a visit on route €50. The website gives no fees for later years.
