No direct farmer membership
The national non-profit federation of Spanish pure-breed livestock associations, founded on 15 May 1982 (as FEAGAS) and carrying the “Real” (Royal) title since 2021. By its own account it has 122 member breed associations: 37 cattle, 32 sheep, 17 goat, 4 pig, 18 horse and donkey, 10 poultry, plus rabbit and snail breeders. It represents pure-breed livestock before the authorities, organises shows, breeding-stock fairs and auctions, and promotes Spanish animal genetics; it takes part in the Copa-Cogeca animal breeding working group.
A second-tier federation: its members are the national breed associations, farmers cannot join directly. As a farmer you can join the breed association of the breed you keep, which is a member of RFEAGAS (the member organisations are listed by species on the website).
RFEAGAS charges no fee to farmers; the breed associations pay the membership fee, the amount is not published. As a farmer you pay the fee of your own breed association.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
