The Confédération paysanne is a French farmers' union for peasant (family-scale) farming, founded in 1987. It has local branches in every department and in the overseas territories. It promotes 'agriculture paysanne' — combining social, agronomic and environmental aims — and is a founding member of the European Coordination Via Campesina and of the international Via Campesina.
Membership is voluntary; you join through the departmental branch. Non-farmers can support it through 'Les Amis de la Conf''.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask them directly. Fees are handled by the departmental branch.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
