The official breeding organisation (organisme de sélection) for the Limousin beef breed in France, based at the Pôle de Lanaud (Haute-Vienne). It defines and steers the breed's selection programme: improving maternal and carcass traits, combining natural service and artificial insemination, genetic evaluation and a breed qualification system. The Lanaud centre also houses the Herd-Book Limousin (qualification of breeding animals), the Lanaud station (testing about 700 promising calves each year), Interlim (sale of breeding stock, semen and embryos) and IngenomiX (genomic testing).
Voluntary. For Limousin cattle breeders taking part in the selection programme (registration, qualification); the website does not describe the conditions for joining.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — please ask directly.
