No direct farmer membership
The national federation of French breeding organisations (organismes de sélection, OS); its predecessors date back to 1947 (UNLG, France UPRA Sélection). It brings together about 80 approved breeding organisations and other bodies, covering more than 1,300 breeds and varieties in 14 species in 8 sections — from farm animals (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses and donkeys, poultry, rabbits) to companion animals. It represents its members before the authorities, helps them carry out their official tasks (herd book, performance recording) and works to preserve breed diversity; it is a founding member of the European UNEGAS.
Umbrella body: its members are breeding organisations (OS); a farmer can join the OS of their breed, not Races de France directly.
Farmers pay nothing directly to Races de France; each breed OS sets its own fee and the federation publishes no amount.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
