Voluntary
The professional union of French beekeepers, founded in 1945. It brings together about a hundred departmental beekeeping associations and unions in mainland France and overseas, representing more than 20,000 professional, part-time, small-scale and hobby beekeepers. It campaigns against pesticides harmful to bees (neonicotinoids), GMOs and the Asian hornet, and defends French honey against cheap imports. It publishes the monthly magazine “Abeilles & Fleurs” and organises the Concours des miels de France honey competition.
Voluntary. Beekeepers usually join through their departmental association affiliated to UNAF; if there is none in their department, or if they prefer, they can join directly as individual members (membership, insurance and subscription form). A beekeeping association or union can join only if no UNAF member body exists in its department; the board decides on admission.
Fee for member organisations (associations, unions): €80 per year + €1.50 per member + €0.15 per hive (legal-support contribution). The individual fee is on the membership form and not published on the website; local associations set their own fees.
Fee basis: flat annual fee
