Voluntary
The national trade union of French winegrowers who farm their own vines, make wine in their own cellar and sell it themselves. Founded in 1976, it has more than 7,000 members; it is made up of 33 departmental and inter-departmental and 8 regional federations, a national and a European confederation (CEVI). It gives legal, tax and technical advice, runs members-only wine fairs, a wine competition and wine-tourism events, and manages the collective brand "Vigneron Indépendant". It is for independent, estate-bottling winegrowers.
Membership is voluntary. You can join if you grow the grapes yourself, make the wine in your own cellar and sell it yourself; cooperatives and merchants cannot. You join through the nearest departmental federation.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask them directly.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
