The national breeders' association for Piedmontese (Piemontese) beef cattle, based in Carrù (province of Cuneo). Founded in 1960, it has more than 4,000 member breeders. It keeps the breed herd book, runs the breeding programme under delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF), and operates a genetic centre, a bull semen centre and a breed museum.
Voluntary. Breeders (individual or collective farms) with at least two female cattle of breeding age registered in the Piedmontese herd book can join, as can cooperatives and organisations that market the breed. The board of directors decides on applications.
Under the statute there is a one-off entry fee and an annual fee in proportion to the number of animals kept; the amount is set by the general assembly and is not published on the website — please ask directly.
