The network of Italy's provincial or multi-provincial chambers of commerce, industry, crafts and agriculture (Camere di commercio), which keeps the business register (Registro delle imprese). Farm businesses (impresa agricola) register here and pay an annual fee ("diritto annuale") for being registered. Register data can be searched at registroimprese.it; registration is handled by the chamber of your own province.
Farm businesses (impresa agricola, sole traders or companies) must register in the Registro delle imprese (Legge 580/1993 art. 8) and pay the diritto annuale (art. 18). Registration (and thus the fee) is not compulsory for small producers in the VAT exemption scheme: turnover in the previous year of at most EUR 7,000, at least two thirds from sales of farm products (Legge 77/1997 art. 2 c. 3). The search cannot check the turnover threshold, so check your own case.
In 2026 the basic fee is EUR 44 a year for sole traders in the special section (sezione speciale; this includes the coltivatore diretto and farm entrepreneurs) and EUR 50 for agricultural simple partnerships (società semplice agricola). Most chambers add 20% (e.g. Nuoro 2026: EUR 53 and 60); sole traders in the ordinary section pay EUR 120, other companies a turnover-based fee. Extra fee per local unit. Deadline: 30 June 2026 (with the first income-tax instalment, by F24).
Fee basis: flat annual fee
