Statutory farm insurance · Italy · national
Mandatory if…
Italy's state insurer against accidents at work and occupational diseases. In agriculture it covers both employees and self-employed farmers: the coltivatore diretto, colono, mezzadro and family members working with them receive benefits after a work accident. INPS collects the annual per-head premium of self-employed farmers together with their pension contributions.
Compulsory for the coltivatore diretto, colono and mezzadro and for the spouse and children who habitually do manual work on the farm (D.P.R. 1124/1965 art. 205); the age limits have been abolished. Employed farm workers are also covered (the employer pays). The IAP pays INPS contributions but not the INAIL per-head premium. CD status is checked by INPS/INAIL; it cannot be decided automatically.
In 2026 the annual per-head premium is EUR 650.00 in normal areas and EUR 450.12 in mountain and less-favoured areas. It is paid with the INPS contribution bill by F24 in four instalments (16 Jul, 16 Sep, 16 Nov 2026, 18 Jan 2027).
