The national association of Hungarian beekeepers, founded in 1879, with about 14,000 members and 111 local member associations. Since 2022 it has been the interbranch organisation for bee products recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture. It runs a network of county advisers, publishes the monthly Méhészújság and checks the quality of honey sold in shops.
Voluntary. Beekeepers join as full or supporting members, only through a local, regional or independent member association; membership starts once the annual fee is paid and the member association accepts the application.
In 2026: HUF 5,000 per person per year, plus HUF 145 per bee colony per year. Deadline: 31 March (new members: 31 October).
