Farmers' union · Austria · national
No direct farmer membership
The umbrella association representing Austrian pig farmers, based in Vienna: it brings together the farmer-owned producer organisations for breeding, piglet production and fattening, with the provincial chambers of agriculture also involved. It sees itself as representing all 15,820 pig farmers in Austria. Its main role is strategic: it coordinates and conveys the interests of its member organisations, prepares technical information in six expert committees and runs sector projects.
Farmers are not direct members. Its members are producer groups and breeding organisations (Gut Streitdorf eGen, Styriabrid GmbH, VLV, Pig Austria GmbH, Vorarlberger Schweinezuchtverband, Burgenländische Schweinezucht & Vermarktungs GmbH) and the eight provincial chambers of agriculture; farmers take part through one of these.
Organisational membership fee — it does not concern farmers directly. Farmers pay their own producer group or breeding organisation; ask there for its fee.
