The association of Austrian organic farmers (BIO AUSTRIA – Verein zur Förderung des Biologischen Landbaus), with around 12,000 organic farm members. Its head office is in Linz, with an office in Vienna and provincial branches across the country. It has its own production guidelines and offers advice, training and marketing support, and represents organic farmers' interests. Certification is not done by BIO AUSTRIA but by an approved inspection body. A voting member of IFOAM Organics Europe.
Voluntary. Organic farms and farms in conversion can join. Members must follow the BIO AUSTRIA guidelines and have a contract with an approved organic inspection body. Members elect one delegate per 100 members to the delegates' assembly.
Under the statutes (2026), full members pay an entry fee and a membership fee, collected by the provincial organisation for itself and for BIO AUSTRIA. The organisation does not publish the amount — please ask them directly.
