ASR is the umbrella association of southern German cattle breeding and AI organisations, based in Grub (Bavaria). It brings together the recognised breeding and AI organisations for Fleckvieh, Braunvieh/Brown Swiss, Gelbvieh, Vorderwälder, Hinterwälder, Limpurger, Glan, Murnau-Werdenfelser and Pinzgauer cattle. It coordinates breeding and AI rules, runs joint breeding-value estimation and a genomics service (Genomic), and represents its members in Germany and abroad. Farmers are linked to it through their local breeding organisation.
Umbrella organisation: its members are Bavarian breeding associations (e.g. ProRind, Rinderzuchtverband Franken, Oberpfalz, Traunstein), AI stations and breeding organisations from other states (e.g. RBW, RUW, RBB, Qnetics, Masterrind/SRV). Individual farmers are not members; you join the breeding organisation for your area.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask directly. Fees are paid by the member organisations; as a farmer you pay the fees of your local breeding organisation.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
