Mandatory levy, no membership
The interbranch organisation of the Spanish egg sector, founded in 1997 and recognised by the ministry in 1998. It brings together the associations of producers, packing centres and the egg-products industry. It funds egg promotion (including EU co-financed campaigns), consumer information, research and market transparency, and represents the sector, e.g. during avian influenza.
Members are associations; a farmer does not join directly. Under the extension of Orden APA/817/2023 (16 Aug 2023 – 31 Dec 2027) the contribution is owed by every operator of a REGA-registered laying-hen farm producing eggs for human consumption with a capacity above 55 livestock units, i.e. 11,000 laying-hen places. Farms for meat, hatching eggs, hobby, education and zoos are exempt.
€20 per year per 1,000 laying hens, based on the estimated flock (85% of the maximum capacity in REGA). Quarterly invoices (31 March, 30 June, 30 September, 31 December); farms with 11,000–20,000 hens may opt for a single annual payment. Pro rata for new or closing farms and during compulsory sanitary depopulation.
Fee basis: per bed (guest place)
