Mandatory levy, no membership
The interbranch organisation of the Spanish wine sector, founded in 2014. Its producer branch is Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias, ASAJA, COAG and UPA; its processing and marketing branch Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias, FEV and AEVE. It funds promotion of Spanish wine at home and abroad, market analysis (economic intelligence), responsible-drinking communication and R&D (e.g. climate change).
Members are associations; a farmer does not join directly. Under the extension of Orden APA/678/2024 (1 Aug 2024 – 31 Jul 2029) every wine producer and wine store (obliged to declare to INFOVI) that sells wine – domestically or for export – must pay. Growers who only sell grapes do not pay; the charge arises when the wine leaves the premises and falls on the owner of the wine. Wine for distillation and vinegar and wine made/bottled on commission for its owner are exempt.
Bottled wine: €0.18/hl; bulk wine: €0.052/hl. Invoiced after the monthly declaration, payable within 30 days; producers with under 1,000 hl a year pay once a year after the August declaration. Amounts of €20 or less per campaign are not charged.
Fee basis: area/volume-based
