No direct farmer membership
The professional body representing French cow-milk producers, founded in 1946 and a specialised association of the FNSEA. Through a network of about 80 departmental and regional dairy federations (the dairy sections of the FDSEA/FRSEA) it represents milk producers before French and EU authorities. Its main topics are the milk price, milk quality, animal welfare and environmental rules.
Umbrella body: a farmer is not a direct member of the FNPL but joins through the dairy section of the departmental farmers' union (FDSEA) or the departmental dairy federation. Membership is voluntary and intended for cow-milk producers.
Farmers pay nothing directly to the FNPL; the fee is collected by the departmental body and the FNPL does not publish the amount. According to its website, 70% of the FNPL budget comes from membership fees.
