Mandatory levy, no membership
The French interprofessional body for oilseeds and protein crops, active for more than 40 years; recognised in France since 1976 and in the EU since 2013. It brings together the main federations of production, trade, processing and use (rapeseed, sunflower, soya, flax, olive, peas, faba beans, lupin, lucerne, lentils, chickpeas). It collects market data, funds research and trials and promotes the crops. It matters to farmers growing oilseeds and protein crops, because the levy applies to their harvest.
You do not join: farmers are represented through the member federations. The agreement of 27 June 2024 was extended by the order of 10 October 2024 for the 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons (until 30 June 2027) to all professional families of the sector. The compulsory levy (CVO) applies to French-grown seed of rapeseed, sunflower, soya, flax, peas, faba beans, lupin, lentils and chickpeas.
The levy is an amount per tonne that differs by crop; according to an older (2018–2021) leaflet of the organisation it ranged from EUR 0.15 to 3.25 per tonne. Current rates are set in the agreement published in BO Agri; the website does not give them. Most of the revenue in the 2018–2021 plan (EUR 63.5 million of 65.7 million) came from the growers' share. Declarations are made on cvo.terresunivia.fr.
