Breeders' association in Bonyhád for Hungarian Simmental (magyartarka), a dual-purpose dairy and beef breed of Simmental origin. It organises breeding, genetic improvement and international representation of the breed. At the end of 2023 its 1,117 members kept 28,356 cows; the breed is used both in milked and in beef (suckler) herds.
Voluntary membership for farmers and companies breeding Hungarian Simmental cattle; businesses can also join as supporting members. Under 188/2019. (VII. 30.) Korm. rendelet the association may not refuse membership if the breeder accepts the membership obligations, and it must enter animals of the breed in the herd book on request. To produce and sell registered breeding animals you have to take part in the breeding programme.
The fee is set each year by the delegates' assembly. It is based on the number of female animals over 24 months registered in ENAR on 31 December of the previous year and on breeding bulls; each breeding bull costs ten times the per-cow fee. In addition every member pays a fixed basic fee; natural persons without animals pay only the basic fee. Payable in two instalments, by 30 June and by 31 December. The organisation does not publish the amounts (the price list of 1 January 2025 on the website covers bull semen prices) — please ask them directly.
