Breeders' association for Hereford, Aberdeen Angus and Galloway beef cattle, founded in 1988 and based in Kaposvár. With about 16,000 cows it carries out breed improvement, herd book registration, performance recording and breeding organisation, using BREEDPLAN breeding values. It is also active in the trade of breeding and slaughter cattle and is a member of the World Hereford Council and the European Angus Forum.
Anyone can join who accepts the statutes, agrees to pay the fee and breeds or keeps Hereford, Angus, Galloway or their crossbred cattle; the general assembly decides on admission. Under 188/2019. (VII. 30.) Korm. rendelet the association may not refuse membership if the breeder accepts the membership obligations, and it must enter animals of the breed in the herd book on request. To produce and sell registered breeding animals you have to take part in the breeding programme.
Under the fee schedule valid from 1 January 2024 (net, plus VAT): basic fee HUF 25,000; the annual fee is banded by cow numbers, from HUF 25,000 (1–25 cows) to HUF 225,000 (over 1,000 cows); cow registration fee HUF 1,500 per animal per year. If a member registers animals of the same breed with another association, ten times the basic fee applies. The fee is paid against an invoice.
