No direct farmer membership
The national federation of recognised horse breeding associations, founded in 1989; it currently has 17 breed associations (e.g. Nonius, Lipizzaner, Gidran, Hungarian draught horse, donkey, pony). Its Breeding Office organises covering stations, identifies foals and horses, issues horse passports and runs the national horse breeding information system together with the authority. Horse owners deal with MLOSZ mainly for registration, passports and changes of ownership.
Farmers cannot be full members directly: only horse breeding organisations (associations) recognised by the competent authority can be full members. Breeders join the association of their horse's breed. Legal persons and adult Hungarian citizens with a contractual relationship with the federation can become supporting members by paying the minimum supporting fee.
No direct membership fee for farmers: full and associate membership fees and the minimum supporting fee are set by the delegates' assembly (amount not published). Horse keepers pay for the Breeding Office's services according to the fees published on the website (e.g. foal identification, registration of coverings, naturalisation of imported horses, visits by the county inspector).
