Farmers' union · Poland · national
Voluntary
The national trade union of individual farmers, which grew out of the Solidarity movement; its statute was adopted in 1989. It represents the economic and social interests of farmers and their families before the government, local authorities and other institutions, takes part in law-making and organises protest actions when needed. It works through regional (voivodeship), district and municipal branches and is a member of Copa-Cogeca.
Voluntary. Any individual farmer can join, regardless of farm size or type of production, as can any adult working with them on the farm. The membership declaration is accepted by the local (municipal) branch; the form filled in on the website must be printed, signed and handed in in person. A member may not belong to another individual farmers' union at the same time.
The membership fee is set by the Krajowy Zjazd Delegatów (national delegates' congress) and is paid to the municipal branch or by standing order to the regional council's account; the organisation does not publish the amount — please ask directly. A voluntary entry fee can be paid on joining.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
