Kmetijsko gozdarska zbornica Slovenije is the Slovenian public chamber for agriculture, forestry and fisheries. It represents farmers' interests towards the government and provides public agricultural advisory services through its eight regional institutes (KGZS-Zavod: Celje, Kranj, Ljubljana, Maribor, Murska Sobota, Nova Gorica, Novo mesto, Ptuj). It is for every farmer using land in Slovenia; the regional institutes are not a separate membership.
Under Article 9 of ZKGZ, membership is compulsory for any natural person who owns, leases or uses agricultural land or forest in Slovenia whose cadastral income (katastrski dohodek) reaches EUR 220 (ZKGZ-D, from 22 October 2025; the threshold is adjusted by a coefficient as cadastral income changes; previously EUR 167). It is also compulsory for self-employed persons (s.p.) in agriculture, forestry or fisheries and for persons insured as farmers in the pension and disability scheme. Those below the threshold who work in the sector can join voluntarily. Since ZKGZ-D (22 October 2025) legal persons can only be voluntary members.
A chamber contribution (zbornični prispevek) is due; the chamber assesses it each year by decision (based on the records at 30 June), payable within 30 days, in two instalments above EUR 100. In 2025 natural persons pay 4.0% of cadastral income, at least EUR 8.35; persons insured as farmers pay a flat EUR 8.35; self-employed persons 1.53% of taxable profit; legal persons 0.2% of wages and depreciation. Under ZKGZ-D (Article 25.a), from 2026 flat amounts apply: EUR 10 (for certain compulsory members), EUR 30 for voluntary natural-person members and EUR 250 for voluntary legal-person members. Partial or full exemption can be requested for low income or natural disasters.
Fee basis: land-value based (collected with tax)
