Voluntary
The Bavarian farmers' union, a public-law corporation (KdöR) under the Bavarian constitution, but membership is voluntary. It works through a general secretariat, district and county associations and about 60 offices across Bavaria. It offers representation, legal, social, tax and succession advice, farm advice (fertiliser rules, plant protection records) and member discounts. It is a state member association of the Deutscher Bauernverband.
Membership is voluntary. Full members can be anyone running an agricultural or forestry holding in Bavaria (full-time, part-time or side-line), those handing over or leasing out a farm, and agricultural employees. Non-farmers can be supporting members; a free online membership also exists.
Annual fee (2025): EUR 96 basic fee + area-based part (farmed hectares × the municipality's hectare rate × 0.0045 + EUR 1.50 per ha) + forest EUR 2.25 per ha, rounded up to the next 50 cents. Above 50 ha the fee decreases gradually, to half the base rate at 175 ha; the hectare rate is capped at 1,600. Members of the Bavarian forest owners' association get a reduction on the forest part. Supporting members pay at least EUR 96 a year.
