Voluntary
An organic farming association in Germany, founded in Bavaria in 1979 and based in Passau. It brings together farmers and beekeepers, processors and traders, and consumers, with a focus on regional networks, animal welfare and artisanal food processing. It has its own production standards and five regional producer groups (Erzeugerringe): Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia & Lower Saxony, Central, Eastern and North-Eastern Germany.
Voluntary. Farms and beekeepers that farm organically or are converting, as well as processors and traders, can join; member businesses must follow the Biokreis standards. Inspection is carried out by a state-approved organic control body, not by the association itself. Apply on the website: you receive an information pack and an adviser gets in touch.
