MASTERRIND is one of Germany's largest cattle-breeding companies, headquartered in Verden with regional centres in Meißen and Bad Zwischenahn. It is owned by three cooperative breeding organisations: MASTERRIND Hannover eG, the Saxon SRV eG and Weser-Ems-Union (WEU eG). It serves more than 8,000 farms with about 600,000 Holstein and almost 11,000 beef herdbook cows. It is for dairy and beef farmers in Lower Saxony, Bremen and Saxony.
Voluntary. The farmer becomes a member of a breeding cooperative (Lower Saxony: MASTERRIND Hannover eG or WEU eG; Saxony: SRV eG); the GmbH is their joint company. Under the statutes of MASTERRIND Hannover eG, any natural or legal person or partnership that breeds cattle, has its farm in the organisation's area and commits to proper breeding work can join; a signed membership declaration and board approval are required. The area of the dairy breeding programme is wider (several northern and eastern German states).
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask directly. Under the statutes of MASTERRIND Hannover eG (2024) a cooperative share costs EUR 160 (EUR 16 payable on joining); the annual contribution is set by the board and supervisory board, and an entry fee may be charged. The share is repaid when you leave.
