Rinder-Union West (RUW) is a cooperative for cattle breeding, artificial insemination and breeding-stock marketing, formed in 1993 from 15 earlier organisations. With its head office in Münster and regional centres in Krefeld and Fließem (near Bitburg), it works in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. In the 2022/23 business year it had 15,770 members and about 5,500 active dairy farms. Through partners (e.g. the Phönix Group breeding programme) it offers Holstein breeding and auctions.
Voluntary. You join as a member of the cooperative; services (AI, herdbook, marketing) are aimed at member farms. The detailed admission conditions are not described in the material published on the website — the regional centre can tell you.
The organisation does not publish its membership fee — ask directly. Service charges (AI, breeding/herdbook, marketing) are listed in the price lists published on the website; increases were announced from the 2026/27 business year.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
