Mandatory levy, no membership
The interbranch organisation of the Spanish olive oil sector, founded in 2002; its public brand is 'Aceites de Oliva de España'. It brings together associations of olive growers, cooperatives, mills, packers and exporters (its board includes e.g. ASAJA, UPA, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias, ASOLIVA). By its own figures it represents 400,000 olive growers, 1,755 mills and 1,500 packers. It funds olive oil promotion in many countries, market information and R&D.
Members are associations; a farmer does not join directly. The extension under Orden APA/860/2024 (1 Oct 2024 – 30 Sep 2029) imposes a compulsory contribution on all olive oil produced and marketed in Spain. The production share is paid by the mill (almazara); for toll milling (maquila) the mill passes it on to the owner of the olives. The marketing share is paid by the first buyer or the packer, or by a farmer who takes his own toll-milled oil into his own premises.
€6 per tonne in total: €3/t production-and-processing and €3/t marketing/packing contribution. Paid monthly by the business concerned, by the end of the invoicing month. Farmers who sell olives to a mill do not pay directly.
Fee basis: area/volume-based
