Mandatory levy, no membership
The Spanish interbranch organisation (organización interprofesional agroalimentaria) for white (non-Iberian) pigs, recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture. Its members are the national organisations of the production branch (including ASAJA, COAG, UPA and Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España) and of the processing and trade branch; farmers are not direct members. It funds promotion campaigns, opening of export markets, research, and animal-health and biosecurity programmes. The ministry has extended its agreement to the whole sector (extensión de norma) from 18 November 2024 to 17 November 2028, so non-member farmers also pay the contribution.
There is no membership; the contribution is due by ministerial order (Orden APA/861/2024, art. 4–5). It concerns every farmer or other operator who delivers adult white pigs raised in Spain to a Spanish slaughterhouse: the slaughterhouse withholds the „production contribution” from the purchase price and shows it in the contract and on the invoice. If the pigs are delivered by an operator other than the farmer, that operator may pass the charge on to the farmer. Slaughterhouses and carcass importers also pay their own „slaughter and marketing contribution”.
The production contribution is €0.055 per adult white pig raised in Spain and delivered for slaughter; from 1 May to 31 August 2026 it is exceptionally €0.265 (Orden APA/364/2026, to fund African swine fever prevention). The slaughterhouse deducts it from the purchase price and pays it to Interporc monthly; the farmer has nothing to do, the deduction appears on the invoice. The slaughter and marketing contribution (also €0.055 per pig, €0.265 in summer 2026) is paid by the slaughterhouse.
