No direct farmer membership
The national association of the regulatory councils (Consejos Reguladores) of Spanish protected designations of origin and geographical indications (PDO, PGI) for food – cheese, ham, olive oil, fruit, meat, honey and more – active since March 2008. It represents its members before the authorities and EU bodies, acts against fraud and organises joint promotion. Its members are PDO/PGI bodies; farmers cannot join directly.
Origen España's members are the regulatory councils of the PDOs/PGIs, not farms. As a farmer you are concerned by the Consejo Regulador of your own product: anyone who wants to produce or sell under a PDO/PGI name must meet the product specification and be entered in the Consejo Regulador's registers. Under Article 18 of Ley 6/2015 the council may levy contributions from operators; this law applies to PDOs/PGIs covering more than one autonomous community, while regional ones fall under the law of the autonomous community.
Origen España charges no fee to farmers. The registration and annual contributions are set and collected by the relevant Consejo Regulador (typically based on area, quantity produced or value) — ask your own regulatory council for the amount.
For information only, not legal advice. Mandatory membership is set by local law — each profile lists its source.
