Mandatory if…
The statutory representative and advisory body for farmers in Styria, with its head office in Graz and district offices. It gives technical advice from crops to forestry, helps with aid applications and runs training. It is part of the Austrian chamber system (LKÖ).
Membership by law (conditional), § 4: you are a member if you own, hold the usufruct of or lease a farm or forest holding in Styria and run it as your main occupation on your own account (no area limit); otherwise if the holding or plot is at least 1 ha (10,000 m²). Family members aged 16+ working mainly on the farm and agricultural cooperatives based in Styria are also members.
Chamber levy (Kammerumlage): a base amount (Grundbetrag) plus a rate (Hebesatz) applied to a base derived from the land's assessed value (Einheitswert); both are set by the chamber's general assembly (Vollversammlung). Since the 2023 amendment (LGBl. Nr. 11/2023, § 35a) the base amount may be at most €40 a year, index-linked to consumer prices (previously €25). Owners of holdings of 1 ha or more pay; the tax office collects it with land tax. The chamber does not publish the amounts actually applied — ask the chamber.
Fee basis: land-value based (collected with tax)
