Chamber of agriculture · Austria · national
No direct farmer membership
The national umbrella of Austria's nine provincial agricultural chambers, based in Vienna. It represents farmers at federal level towards the state and other professions, comments on draft laws, coordinates the provincial chambers and training, and as a Copa-Cogeca member represents Austrian agriculture in Brussels. Farmers deal with their provincial chamber.
Individual farmers cannot join directly: the LKÖ's members are the provincial agricultural chambers. Under the provincial chamber law a farmer is a member of their own provincial chamber (thresholds differ by province) and is linked to the LKÖ through it.
Farmers pay nothing directly to the LKÖ. The chamber levy (Kammerumlage) is set by the provincial chamber and collected by the tax office together with land tax.
