No direct farmer membership
The statutory public body of the pálinka sector, created by law. Its tasks are protecting the geographical indication and quality of pálinka, looking after the product specifications and drawing up the National Pálinka Strategy. It organises the National Pálinka Competition and the Pálinka Night events.
Individual distillers cannot join directly. Members are professional associations with at least five closed business years and, in every one of those years, at least ten member distilleries holding a tax-warehouse licence (currently e.g. Pálinkafőzők Országos Egyesülete, Kisüsti Pálinkafőzők Országos Egyesülete, Magyar Szeszipari Szövetség és Terméktanács). A distillery connects through these.
Distilleries pay no mandatory levy to the Council: by law it is funded from the central budget and voluntary contributions. Member associations set their own fees.
