Voluntary
An organic farming association active for more than 35 years, based in Güstrow (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania); its members farm mainly in northern and eastern Germany. It describes itself as practical and low on bureaucracy, with a focus on pasture-based livestock, home-grown feed and humane slaughter. Its standards are stricter than the EU organic regulation, and it links members with regional market partners (e.g. Biopark Markt GmbH, EDEKA Nord).
Voluntary. Organic or converting producers and processors can join if they follow the Biopark standards; supporting membership and a 12-month trial membership are also offered. Certification is carried out by a separate organic control body.
Fee rules (valid from 19 October 2022) for producers: one-off joining fee €50, annual base fee €50, plus at least €2.50/ha of farmland; livestock keepers also pay €1.00 per livestock unit (ruminants, horses), €2.50 per LU (pigs) and €5.00 per LU (poultry). Above 50 ha a 5–10% reduction on the area applies; the maximum fee is €7,800. Processors pay €250–5,000 a year depending on organic turnover; supporting members at least €50 a year.
Fee basis: area/volume-based
