The Landwirtschaftskammer Niederösterreich is the statutory agricultural chamber of Lower Austria, based in St. Pölten. It represents the province's farmers and foresters: it gives advice (farm business, law, tax, livestock, crops, forestry, building, energy, direct sales), helps with aid applications and organises training. Farmers above the threshold are members automatically under the provincial law; the national umbrella is the Landwirtschaftskammer Österreich.
Compulsory member (NÖ Landwirtschaftskammergesetz § 4): owners of agricultural or forest plots in Lower Austria of at least 1 ha; anyone farming on their own account whose holding has an assessed value (Einheitswert, or share of it) of at least EUR 150; full-time self-employed farmers and foresters; family members working on the farm and insured under the BSVG; retired farmers with at least 20 years of BSVG insurance and their spouses; agricultural and forestry cooperatives based in Lower Austria.
Chamber levy (Kammerumlage): a base amount plus a percentage (Hebesatz) of the land tax base amount (Grundsteuermessbetrag). Since 2024 the base amount is EUR 40.74 per holding per year – paid by members who pay the BSVG business contribution (§ 29(1)) – and the Hebesatz is 800%. The Grundsteuermessbetrag is 0.16% of the first EUR 3,650 of assessed value and 0.2% above. The tax office collects it with land tax.
Fee basis: land-value based (collected with tax)
