The Landwirtschaftskammer Oberösterreich is the statutory agricultural chamber of Upper Austria, based in Linz. It represents the province's farmers and foresters: it gives advice, helps with aid applications, organises training and runs the official plant protection service. Farmers above the threshold are members automatically under the provincial law; the national umbrella is the Landwirtschaftskammer Österreich.
Compulsory member (Oö. Landwirtschaftskammergesetz 1967, § 3): owners (natural or legal persons) of agricultural or forest land in Upper Austria of at least 2 ha, or with an assessed value (Einheitswert) of at least EUR 1,500; self-employed farmers and foresters subject to pension insurance under the BSVG; spouses, children and grandchildren insured under the BSVG; retired farmers who handed over the farm and live there; agricultural and forestry cooperatives and senior employees.
Chamber levy (Kammerumlage, § 40): a base amount (Sockelbetrag) plus a percentage (Hebesatz) of the land-tax base amount (Grundsteuermessbetrag). According to the chamber, the Hebesatz is currently 750% (the legal maximum) and the base amount EUR 25 (the act sets EUR 14.50, which may be raised up to threefold once the Hebesatz is 750%). Example (chamber's calculation): for an assessed value of EUR 10,000, EUR 18.54 × 750% = EUR 139.05 + EUR 25 = EUR 164.05 a year. The tax office collects it with land tax.
Fee basis: land-value based (collected with tax)
