Mandatory if…
The statutory representative body for farmers in Vienna; in the city it mainly serves vegetable and ornamental horticulture, vineyards and arable farms. It advises on horticulture, viticulture and winemaking, farm management and legal and tax matters. It is part of the Austrian chamber system (LKÖ).
Membership by law (conditional), § 3: owners, tenants and usufructuaries of farm or forest land in Vienna are members if they farm it as their main occupation on their own account (no area limit); otherwise if the land is at least 1 ha (10,000 m²). For vine growers and agricultural market gardeners the threshold is 0.4 ha (4,000 m²); beekeepers are members once an assessed value (Einheitswert) has been set. Family members, retired farmers and cooperatives can also be members.
In Vienna the chamber itself bills the contribution (not the tax office): for farm and forest holdings as a percentage of the land-tax base amount (Grundsteuermessbetrag), plus amounts by livestock numbers and type of holding, and a uniform annual base amount (Grundbetrag; legal ceiling €145.34). Under the general assembly's decision of November 2023, from 2024 the base amount is €55 (previously €30) and the contribution rates rose by 12% (except contributions based on turnover). The chamber publishes the detailed rates on its website. The bill is enforceable.
Fee basis: land-value based (collected with tax)
